The Lockdown- Unlock Fretting!!!

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, furlough, termination & firing has become the new recurrent. Everyday when I wake up and browse through LinkedIn, one or other of my connections have posted that it is their last working day today and that they are not sure what’s tomorrow like. They are already away from their home and family, and then this distressing and unsettling news seems like they are down in the mouth.

But at the same time, Organizations cannot be criticized. The onus of managing the human as well as their businesses can be daunting.

However, my observation is that there are Organizations who have come up stronger than ever and are responding to maintain continuity in their business processes now, and in the future.

There are my old LinkedIn connections, colleagues, and clients who actively research on the job seekers, are curious about who you are and what you stand for. I have also come across various independent consultants who have prepared a database of such candidates on location basis and work to support them and help them get their ‘right fit’.

But again, I just recall this phrase and it seems apt to me– ‘God help those who help themselves’.

We lounge for a new opportunity every day, but at the same time, these candidates’ LinkedIn activity cover not-so-recent and dispensable comments on other’s posts. Let me tell you, this is going to create a not-so-great impression for the recruiters and consultants who are meaning to help you out.

So why not subtract yourself from any such activity that will bring you one step down from building your professional network any stronger and rather invest your hours to connect with people and build your network through the world’s largest network.

I believe the World will never be the same again. And thus, this period requires arduous effort and patience to deal with impending days ahead of us. Each one of us must see resilience as a key success factor and unfold the opportunities that behold.

Build Value, Boost Sales…

You bought the value out of the product or service which connected with you. The person who sold you was competent enough to understand your value driver and match it with the value proposition of his/her offering. And, these Sales people will never struggle to meet their sales target.

If you want to be a Super Sales person, you need to master these 3 things.

  1. How to identify the consumer’s Value Driver ?
  2. How to create Value Statement ?
  3. How to make Value Proposition ?

Survival through Intangibles

The market is being opened up. There is rush to produce, sell and get the business back on track……as fast as possible. Most of the economic stimuli are meant to drive production, very few drive demands. We are heading towards a situation of the Demand lagging far behind the Supply. This will give birth to Hyper Competition. And, the companies will need to build Hyper Differentiation for survival.

Meeting Specification and Acceptable Pricing are the bare minimum requirements – The Gate – to enter the market. They form Table stakes of Elements of Value. The companies will no longer be able to differentiate their products and services on basis of these. Only the Intangibles will produce the Hyper Differentiation. The companies will need to seriously build on Consumer Affinity, Employees Commitment and Culture of Learning & Innovation. Only these intangibles will sail the companies through this crisis.
